The most obvious evidence for John being an alias is that all six family names baptised in 1686 in Beverly exactly match Lord Prides and his only son named John, Josephs older brother, died at birth in 1630. The entire Pride population in England was less 50 in 1675, the year alias John marries in Beverly. The 1686 Beverly Baptism names are not repeated outside Lord Prides Family.

The Pride name was so unique and rare that the years 1604, 1606, 1620, 1642, and 1657 had zero Prides born in England in those years. Joseph Pride goes missing from all records in 1658, the only Lord Pride descendant to do so, and he was one of the wealthiest men in England at the time. Rich men that don't leave, leave records.

All John Prides born in England are accounted for, they all have corresponding death records in England with very good matching data. Dorset Prides have very unusual names (like Shadrach, Gersome, Gualthen, and Habakkuk), none of which appear in 1686 in Beverly nor in pre civil war Falmouth, which would have eliminated them as realistic possibilities in a puritan family of the period anyway.
